Pastor Nathaneil Christman

On Sunday, June 17th 2012, the congregation of Oak Grove Lutheran Church casted a unanimous vote to call Nathaneil Christman as their next pastor. Nathaneil accepted the call.  Nathaneil was ordained on July 14th 2012 in his home congregation (St. Paul Lutheran Church, Colville) which is located in the eastern part of Washington State. Bishop Martin Wells and Bishop Kurt Kusserow co-officiated. Pastor Nathaneil and his family moved into the parsonage on July 20th and he assumed his new duties as of July 23, 2012.

A message from Pr. Nathaneil:
To be totally honest, I want you to join the church. But not for the reason you might think. I want you to join the church and I want you to become an active member. And then, I will expect you to make a real difference in your  life, in your community and perhaps even the world! Not alone, but surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses and a loving Lord. In addition, we (your church) will support you with our time, talent, resources, and most importantly, with our prayers. Together we will bring heaven to earth! And, at the end of the day, we will look deep into ourselves and truthfully say, “We did nothing, but God did much through us.” By the grace of God, we will stand for something greater than ourselves. I am saving a spot for you…

Pastor Nathaneil's farewell letter:
Words cannot do justice for the deep gratitude and love that I have for the people of Oak Grove and for the friends, neighbors, and colleagues I have known in Western PA. You have been my family for the past ten years. You have been family to my family for the past 10 years. You have opened your hearts to me and we have done some fantastic work together! You have shown me wonders I have never dreamed. The church is more powerful than I ever imagined. Capable of great good at a level I still don’t fully comprehend. A small group of faithful people, by the grace of God, can change the world. Of that I have no doubt. Keep the faith! Stay the course! Run the race that is before you! Show the care and love you have shown me to one another, and all will be well and all manner of things will be well. God is with you and God will not fail you.
My farewell Sunday is this Sunday, June 5th 9:00 AM - Pentecost Sunday (wear red if you can). There is a brunch after worship!
For those who can not make it, farewell my friend. I will miss you; I will see you again – Jesus has promised us such!
If you need to get ahold of me please let Katie Furbee (Church Secretary) know. She will be the point of contact from the church to me so that I can give my time and energy to the people of God in a new corner of the world. As I have loved you, now I must love them. I will miss you dearly. I thank you so much for everything!

Minister of Music:
Pastor Bill Brewer

Pastor William (Bill) Brewer took over as Minister of Music at Oak Grove on June 1, 2012.
Pastor Bill retired from pastoral ministry after serving St. Paul Lutheran Church in Zelienople for 22 years and his total ministry for 41 years. While there, various music ministries were developed and extended. Youth musical theater groups presented major Broadway musicals, involving young people from elementary age through high school. He is still involved in a group called EPIC (Enthusiastic Performers in Christ) consisting of students in grades 6-12.
Pastor Brewer (or PB as the kids call him) has accompanied the Seneca Valley choruses for over 30 years now and loves his involvement with them. He has been the director of the Lutherlyn Musical Theatre camp for almost 40 years, composing original Bible musicals each summer. He is the alternate Saturday organist at Hope Lutheran Church and the primary organist at Zion Lutheran in Harmony in addition to his weekly service at Oak Grove.
Bill celebrated his 50th anniversary of ordination in 2020.
PB is pictured at the congregation's Moller self-contained pipe organ purchased by congregation in 1940.
